Excellent Read for Anyone Who Wants to Free Time, Energy, and Headspace - in a Heart-Based Way
I had the privilege of being an early reader for this book and cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone who is looking to create more time, free up more energy, and work smarter. A key idea of the book is, "Time isn't money, it is life force." This epitomizes Jenny's approach to business: we don't have to hustle, grind it out, or trade time for money. There is a new way of working (and living) to create more joy and ease, and Jenny helps us to do so within this book. One of my favorite chapters of the book is called, "What's Your Wifi Password?" This chapter invites us to think about the things we do over and over again (for example: trying to remember, and then find, our WiFi passwords - or, in my case, any passwords at all), and then thinking about ways to streamline them in order to make our lives easier. Simple, but brilliant. In addition to the content within, the physical book is gorgeous: hard cover, spot color throughout, and the most incredible hot orange bookmark! A great read that is packed with actionable ideas, joyful stories, and beautiful visuals. A book that I can't wait to revisit anytime I'm feeling conflict related to my calendar (which is often) or in need of a boost of inspiration around how to work smarter and in a way that feels more free.

As a heart-centered entrepreneur I wish I would have had the wisdom from this book before I left my job and jumped into a life of entrepreneurship so I could have set my business up with systems, processes and efficiencies Jenny Blake so generously shares. As with her previous works including Pivot, Jenny once again lays out a thoughtful, practical, and insightful approach to a life of entrepreneurship that doesn’t succumb to the pressures of hustle culture. She explains the importance of creating systems and processes in small heart-based businesses and how they can free up time that can be used to do the things that actually bring us joy in life. She then provides a step-by-step approach that even the least organized of us can follow and implement, and generously shares specific tools and resources that she’s tested and that have worked, taking the guesswork and frustration out of trying to figure out how to actually put her advice into practice. This book is for anyone who wants to live a life of entrepreneurship that is rich and fulfilling and allows for down time, rest, and fun as opposed to the outdated approaches that almost always lead to burnout.

It's a beautifully constructed book that is full of resources, both follow-on reading and technology recommendations. I absolutely love the concept of finding "time freedom" before "financial freedom." Jenny helps you achieve "high net worth" which will likely lead to "high net worth." Check it out!

Busy. When did this become the standard for success? In Free Time Jenny Blake redefines what it means to have a successful business. In it she walks you step-by-step how to go from a life of busywork to one of joy and ease. The surprisingly simple solution?

Systems + Team = Love Your Business

Systems don't have to be complicated, rigid, or exacting. They are not one-size-fits-all. There is no cookie-cutter, off the shelf system that will magically work for you. The best systems are those that are developed based on your individual preferences, talents, and innate thought processes in mind. Which is why I loved the approach in this book that first starts with finding alignment (of values, energy, and strengths) before moving into designing the systems that will work for you, your business, and your team.

The second and equal part of this equation is teams. There comes a point in a small business where you simply can’t do it all yourself. Trying to do so keeps you from doing the work that will drive your business forward. You inevitably spend more time working in your business than on it. You become your own bottleneck.

Free Time dispels the myth that as a business owner you either need to do it all as “Chief Everything Officer” or you need to hire a big team. Jenny offers a third and more realistic option—the “delightfully tiny team.”

Whether you are just starting out or have been in business for years, this book will deliver on its promise: Free Time: Lose the Busywork, Love Your Business.

Jenny, I have been raving about this book to everyone I know, and I just pulled it to use in our leadership teaching curriculum this year. I hope you know how fabulous this book is.

What I love most about this book is how YOU it is — you have designed it and written it so thoughtfully and so clearly that it is a knockout. It's helpful to people on so many levels, and SO organized that I can go back and find exactly what I need.

I don’t know if I knew how much I needed this book. I usually read an entire book before having a guest on the show or inviting someone, but I am post-it notes and highlights deep in the ALIGN section that I think I’ll be reading and using this book as my map for all of the year ahead.

Thank you for writing this book.

If anyone out there is a stressed out business owner, freelancer, or creative entrepreneur, buy this book. This is a map for doing work differently, eliminating hustle, and beginning to implement systems in your business that create more time, ease, freedom, and flow.
